FERNIESIDE FC STRIKES UP A DEAL!
Fernieside FC has been awarded £33,311 from the BBC Children in Need awards to assist with developing an all weather 7-a-side facility to be based at the clubs HQ at Gilmerton Park. The new facility will be developed in the coming weeks and will provide a unique opportunity locally for ages 4 -7 where this type of facility helps to improve the game of younger participants. It is expected also that the facility can be used for other training purposes.
Chaiman of Fernieside FC Robert Ure commented “the support from BBC Children in Need has given the club a lift, we are determined to develop first class facilities aimed at providing new and rewarding access to sport for our young people and the new facility when completed will be yet another milestone in achieving our ambitions. All involved at the club volunteer their time and it is testament to each and every volunteer at the club and over 300 members that this award has been made by Children in Need”. Robert added, “for many years the club has aspired to excel in its provision for our local youngsters and a great deal of thanks goes also to our many sponsors particularly Bernard Hunter, The South Edinburgh Partnership and PMR Leisure who also share in the clubs vision”.
To celebrate the award, Pudsey made a surprise visit to Fernieside FC on Saturday 31st August 2008 to meet the youngsters and other sponsors, supporters of the club and local officials |
